Heat Pump Hot Water Rebates in Queensland (2026)
By PumpSwap. Checked against the official sources on 21 September 2026. How we check
Queensland has no state heat pump hot water rebate in 2026. The incentive available is the federal STC discount, typically $500 to $800, taken off the installer's quote. The Climate Smart Energy Savers cash-back, which paid $800 to $1,000 for heat pump and solar hot water, closed in December 2023.
Total rebates and discounts: up to $800. PumpSwap's modelled installed price after rebates in Queensland: $2,300 - $4,800.

How to claim in Queensland
- Choose a heat pump on the Clean Energy Regulator's register, because only registered models earn STCs. The installer or their agent takes the STC discount off the quote when you assign the certificates to them.
- Certificates must be created within 12 months of the install, which your installer or their agent handles.
- If you are financing the system, the federal Household Energy Upgrades Fund offers discounted green loans through participating lenders. It is finance, not a rebate.
- Ask for each discount to appear as its own line on the quote, so you can see nothing has been missed.

Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). The deeming period drops from 5 years to 4, so the same heat pump earns about one fifth fewer certificates than a 2026 install and the upfront discount falls with it. Queensland heat pump rebate questions
Is there a Queensland heat pump rebate in 2026?
No state rebate was listed when we checked the Queensland Government and energy.gov.au rebate finders. The federal STC discount still applies.
What happened to the Climate Smart Energy Savers rebate?
It opened in September 2023 and closed when funding ran out; purchases had to be made by 4 December 2023. The Queensland Government says more than 72,700 households were paid, including 1,604 for solar and heat pump hot water systems.
How much is the federal STC discount in Queensland?
It is typically $500 to $800 for a 2026 install. The exact figure depends on the model, your climate zone and the certificate price on the day, so ask for it as a separate line on your quote.
What changes on 1 January 2027?
The federal STC discount steps down every 1 January until the scheme ends in 2030. A heat pump installed in 2027 earns about one fifth fewer certificates than the same model installed in 2026, so the upfront discount falls with it.
